YAF Labels Ron Paul and Majority of Military as Traitors PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Young Americans for Freedom join the Neocons in Orwellian Doublethink: War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery

Beyond Left Right

Feb 15, 2011

On Saturday Feb. 12 Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) expelled Ron Paul from the organization’s National Advisory Board which he has served on for over 20 years. The decision was made per curiam (decision handed down by the court as a whole, without identifying any particular judge as the author) for their concern with Rep. Paul's "delusional and disturbing alliance with the fringe Anti-War movement."

YAF’s Senior National Director Jordan Marks had this to say:

“Rep. Paul’s refusal to support our nation’s military and national security interests border on treason, aside from his failure to uphold his oath to the United States Constitution and defend our country and citizens against all enemies, foreign and domestic,”

Perhaps if Jordan feels Ron Paul is guilty of treason for his "alliance with the fringe Anti-War movement" , isn't every American who contributed to Ron's 2008 presidential campaign also a Traitor? How about the Military? During the 2008 election, Ron Paul got more donations from military members and veterans than any Republlican and Democrat--and more than all the Republicans put together:

$95,709 = total military donations to Huckabee, McCain, Romney, Giuliani, and Thompson combined
Ron Paul Q4 donations from Military members and Veterans Grand Total: $131,078.33

Jordan also said:

“It is a sad day in American history when a one-time conservative-libertarian stalwart has fallen more out of touch with America’s needs for national security than the current feeble and appeasing administration,”

Ron Paul: I Can Beat “Warmongering” Obama

If Jordan, the YAF and the rest of the Neocons would quit cowering under their bed in fear of Muslims, they would understand that the "current feeble and appeasing administration” has done nothing but expand its predecessor’s war agenda (Obama constantly speaks against it, in action however, Obama has embraced and expanded the neocon agenda).

Rep. Paul is a life-long supporter of a strong national defense.   He opposes the United States military conducting unconstitutional wars, invasions, and occupations.    Ron understands that the ultimate way to support the troops is to bring them home. Young Americans for Freedom should rename itself to "Young Americans for Oppression and Slavery."    Slavery is not Freedom, and Democracy and Freedom cannot be spread by force.  Rep. Ron Paul is obeying the Constitution by advocating bringing the troops home to defend our borders.   No congressional declaration of war has ever been authorized by Congress. U.S. military suicides are at all time highs, the USA is financially ruined, and hundreds of thousands of civilians abroad are dead due to the neocon inspired actions of the U.S. military.   Perhaps every member of YAF should enlist, immediately, because anything less is hypocrisy.

Is the YAF commiting suicide or simply getting fully in bed with the Neocons? Time will tell. A look at their comment board for their article Nation’s Oldest Conservative-Libertarian Activist Group Expels Ron Paul from Advisory Board clearly shows a backlash by their members for the decision. Here is just a sample:

Just got in from cpac. Spent 500 dollars and missed 3 days of class to support the real champion of the constitution Ron Paul. Can't wait to remove myself and my $ from anything related to YAF. As a member of the U.S. Army I'd like to reassure anyone reading this that supporting the troops does not equal blindly supporting their mission. Can't wait to proudly display my Ron Paul 2012 sign in Afghanistan for the next year of my life.

I wonder how the YAF defines libertarian. What brand of libertarianism do these Bush/Palin/Romney war hawkish YAF members belong to? I am for freedom being spread out to other countries, but freedom has to be freely chosen by these other countries, not forced upon them. All our attempts in history to "spread freedom" by war have failed and resulted in innocents dying, yes many innocent people died.By the way, us Ron Paul people have a commitment to a political philosophy and not a party and will not support just any old Republican candidate. No compromise.

Anti-Socialist
How many of you chickenhawk YAF members have ever served or considered serving in the military? When more of you start volunteering to fight the wars you support, then you will have relevancy. I have served overseas seven times, before and after 9/11. I support Ron Paul because he does not want the US involved in any more pointless wars. And don't try to rationalize your support with the tired old line about "protecting America from Islamofacism." You name me one Muslim country that is hell bent on taking over America. Hell, name one Muslim country that has the capability to take over America. By constantly encouraging Americans to live in a perpetual state of fear under the specter of terrorism,
you have handed your "enemies" their victory.

Recipe for a Successful 2011

Ron Paul
January 5, 2011

The year 2011 brings in a host of opportunities and challenges to America. Will we accelerate toward economic insolvency by continuing the policies that have created this crisis, or will a new Congress elected on the energy of the Tea Party movement find the courage to change course?

Ron Paul
Will a new Congress elected on the energy of the Tea Party movement find the courage to change course?

With the new Republican majority in the House I will have the opportunity as a subcommittee chairman to take a careful look at our domestic monetary policy. I am excited by the prospect of real oversight of the Federal Reserve, but I also hope to focus on the important ways in which our foreign policy and monetary policy are related. Just last week the Financial Times reported that the limited oversight of the Federal Reserve allowed by the passage of a watered-down version of my Audit the Fed bill revealed that approximately 55 percent of the loans made available under the largest Federal Reserve bailout program, the Term Auction Facility, went to foreign banks! This is but one example of the real cost to Americans of maintaining its empire overseas, and it cries out for more transparency and oversight.

This is why it is key for us to understand that our foreign policy and current economic crisis go hand in hand. Some have promised to lead us back to fiscal responsibility while asserting that any reduction in our foreign and military spending is off the table. They would like us to believe that we should not only continue spending as much on the military as the rest of the world combined, but they actually call for an even more aggressive US policy abroad. They believe we should continue to bomb Pakistan, Yemen, Afghanistan, and elsewhere; that we must impose even more crippling sanctions on countries like Iran while moving steadily on to yet another Middle East war that is not in our interest. They represent the failed policies of the past and they would like to lead us down a dead-end street. We must resist the temptation of their neo-con inspired scare-mongering.

There will be much work for us to do in the next year and in the next Congress. We need look no further than the grossly unconstitutional and immoral policies of the Transportation Security Administration – demanding that we either be irradiated or fondled to travel in our own country – to see that those who would deprive us of our civil liberties on the empty promise of full security will not be giving up easily. We must continue standing up to them and we must not compromise. We must not allow the out-of-control Department of Homeland Security to impose an East German-like police state in the US, where neighbors are encouraged by big brother or big sister to inform on their neighbors. We must not accept that government authorities should hector us via television screens as we go about our private lives like we are living in Orwell’s 1984.

I am optimistic that the incoming Members of Congress understand the importance of what they have been entrusted with by the American people. But I do hope that those who elected them will watch their actions — and their votes in Congress – carefully. An early indication will be the upcoming vote on re-authorization of the anti-American PATRIOT Act. Defeat once and for all of this police-state legislation will be a great way to start 2011 and the 112th Congress.

We must move ahead with confidence. Our numbers are growing.  Happy New Year!
